Almond Sherbert
On a warn summer day, almond sherbert provides a cool refreshing drink with a rich nutty taste. This should be stirred
occasionally to prevent the nuts from settling down at the bottom of the glass and should be served chilled.
Serves 6:
Preparation time: 10 minutes
- Whole almonds – 50 gm ( ½ cup)
- Full cream – 150 ml
- Sugar – 7 teaspoon or to taste.
- Saffron – 5-6 strands
- Cardamom pods – 3-4
- Almond essence – few drops.
- Ice cubes – 4-5
- Almond flakes – handful.
- Remove the green skin from the cardamom pods and add only the black seeds to the drink.
- Put the whole almonds, cream, sugar, saffron, cardamom pods, almond essence, ice cubes in a blender and blend for 2
minutes.
- Garnish with almond flakes and serve chilled.
Variation:
You can use cashew nuts, plain unsalted peanuts, pistachios or walnuts as a substitute for almonds. Garnish with the
same nuts as used in the drink.
Tips:
Use milk instead of cream if you want the sherbert to be low fat and lighter!
